About this Event
Join us for an informative one-hour session on composting for home landscapes. Learn how everyday yard maintenance activities—like mowing, pruning, and raking—can be transformed into an opportunity to improve your soil and reduce waste.
This lecture will cover the basics of composting, including how decomposition works, what materials to use, and how to maintain a healthy compost system. We will also discuss practical ways to keep yard waste onsite, recycle nutrients, and reduce the need for hauling and disposal.
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Understand the principles of composting and nutrient cycling
- Identify which yard materials can be composted or reused as mulch
- Learn how to start and maintain a compost system at home
- Recognize the environmental and economic benefits of composting
