Compost Kitchen

Did you know that food waste makes up 15% of the Montgomery County landfill? Learn how easy it is to change your food waste from trash to garden gold. This is a partnership between Five Rivers MetroParks and Montgomery County Environmental Services; this two-part program covers everything you need to know to compost effectively. Classes will be held the evening of October 14th and 21st from 6pm-8pm. We'll explore soil ecology, compost-centric gardening, and waste management practices. Participants must complete both programs before receiving a free composter.
Composting is a sound and effective way to improve garden soil and interrupt the solid waste stream. Participants will learn everything necessary to compost effectively. Participants must attend two consecutive sessions and will receive a free composter from the Montgomery County Solid Waste District.
