Compost Hub Workdays (at Phoenix Gardens)

Fresh Approach is a nonprofit organization that aims to create long-term change in local food systems, by connecting California communities with healthy food from California farmers and expanding knowledge about food and nutrition. As part of the industrious EPA community, they seek to foster a more communal growing, sharing, and eating of fresh, local produce.

The Community Compost Hub Program provides the community with the opportunity to learn how to divert their compostable food-waste into gardening compost in San Mateo County. The Community Compost Hub located at 1785 Woodland Ave, East Palo Alto, offers a place for community members to gain hands-on experience with grass-roots food waste management. Through our workshops, volunteer workdays, and community resources, we equip families with the skills and means to convert their food scraps into rich gardening compost to continue to grow healthy fruits and vegetables.

We ask that you bring your own gardening gloves, masks, and water bottles every time you volunteer with us. We encourage you to bring your own tools if possible.

We will provide the tools which will require pre and post sanitation practices from our volunteers.
