The Mission Statement for the Reading Terminal Market seems as if it was written with the photographer in mind. It reads, “To preserve the architectural and historical character, and function, of the Reading Terminal Market as an urban farmers’ market. To provide a wide variety of produce, meat, fish, bakery and dairy products…to maintain an environment that recognizes and celebrates the diversity of our citizens and fosters their interaction…” So be prepared to capture the old world charm of the 82 year old structure of Reading Terminal Market, inside and out, as well as even older buildings in walking distance of this locale. And inside there are picturesque environmental portraits of the farmers who are selling their merchandise. The displays of fruits, produce and various other colorful items are also excellent content for still lives, abstractions and portfolio worthy images.

Your instructor will share insights for dynamic ways of showcasing the architecture and also tips for making portraits that share an elaborative narrative of a story that dates back to the late 17th century of farmers and fishermen who first brought their goods from South Jersey. Public transportation is readily available but if you drive parking is only $4.
