Interested in joining Team Triumph? We love meeting new dancers! Team Triumph is a close knit group of kiddos aged 5-18 that share a love of dance. Read below for more info on how to join us.
How does my child audition?
Is your child interested in joining our competition team? Please read the information below. If you can answer yes to all four questions below, then please keep reading to find the audition info.
Does your child have TRUE PASSION for dance? Does your student constantly practice? In the kitchen while you try to cook, in the grocery store, at school, etc.
Does your child have good attendance? Team Triumph dancers have a strict attendance policy. They are only allowed to miss class 3 times per semester. If more than 3 absences happen in a semester (without a doctor’s note), they may be written out of sections or entire dances per the instructor’s choice or will be required to attend a private make up class at your cost.
Will your child choose dance over other activities? Competitive kids spend A LOT more time at the studio. Sacrifices need to be made in order for this to happen. More time in class, means more money out of your pocket. Also, last minute mandatory rehearsals are planned around our performance schedules. Your student will most likely have to miss some of the following: birthday parties, family events, other sporting events, school carnivals, etc.
Is your child’s account ALWAYS up to date? Competition is expensive. There are entry fees, the costumes are more expensive, the shoes are more expensive, there are convention fees, required TDA apparel fees, etc.
Is your student available for boot camp? Boot camp is July 15-19th and required. Times TBD.
If you answered yes, yes , yes, and yes! Then keep reading. If your child isn’t quite ready, that’s ok too. Talk to Miss Liz about how we can help get your child ready. We are happy to help you and your child set dance goals.
How does my child audition?
Send us an email to [email protected] by 5/20 with the following info:
Your child’s name
Your child’s age
The styles of dance your child is interested in competing (all comp dancers take ballet and jazz, other options are tap, lyrical, and hip hop, contemporary, musical theater)
After 5/20, you will be sent a youtube link with choreography that your child needs to learn.
On Monday, June 10 we will be holding auditions between 5-6:30pm. The audition fee is $15. Dancers should bring all dance shoes and wear all black. You will be sent a time to come to the studio once we know how many people are auditioning.
What will auditions look like?
Your dancer will be interviewed by our teaching staff on why they want to join
Your dancer will be asked to improv to a piece of music (have them practice at home, competing is about being brave so we want to see them move and take risks)
Your dancer will be asked to show the combo taught from the YouTube link
Your dancer will be asked to demonstrate the skills in the list below. We do not expect all skills to be mastered, but they should know what they all are. If you don’t know what these skills are, look on YouTube.
The full audition takes about 15 minutes
