Compassion, Acceptance and Mindfulness in Dance and Performing Arts Conference

Ústav taneční vědy Hudební a taneční fakulty Akademie múzických umění v Praze zve na mezinárodní konferenci Compassion, Acceptance and Mindfulness in Dance and Performing Arts Conference. Akce se bude konat 13. října 2026 v prostorách Galerie HAMU (Malostranské náměstí 13, Praha 1).
S rostoucím důrazem na duševní pohodu a zdraví sílí také potřeba nově přemýšlet nad tím, jak se tanečnice*tanečníci a další performerky*performeři vztahují sami k sobě a ke své vtělené zkušenosti. Přístupy založené na laskavosti k sobě, přijetí a všímavosti nabízejí alternativní perspektivu, skrze níž mohou umělkyně*umělci aplikovat péči, přijmout zranitelnost a rozvíjet odolnost v rámci tvůrčích procesů. Organizátoři konference vyzývají badatele, umělce, pedagogy a další odborníky k reflexi těchto přístupů jakožto vtělených praxí a ke zkoumání, jak utvářejí každodennost tanečníků*tanečnic, performerů*performerek v různých kulturních i profesních kontextech.
V rámci konference představí svůj výzkum mezinárodní odborníci na tato témata:
- Sanna Nordin-Bates (The Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, Švédsko)
- Amber Mosewich (University of Alberta, Kanada)
- Courtney Walton (University of Melbourne, Austrálie)
Konference bude přenášena prostřednictvím platformy Zoom. Odkaz bude sdílen se všemi registrovanými účastníky před zahájením konference.
Důležité: Konference proběhne v anglickém jazyce. V den konání konference budou poskytnuta česká shrnutí všech konferenčních příspevků.

The Institute of Choreology of the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague invites you to the international conference Compassion, Acceptance and Mindfulness in Dance and Performing Arts. The event will take place on 13 October 2026 at the Gallery of HAMU (Malostranské náměstí 13, Prague 1).
Dance and performing arts unfold through lived bodies, bodies shaped by training, expectations, and desire. As questions of well-being and mental health gain increasing relevance, there is a growing need to reconsider how dancers and other performing artists relate to themselves and to their own embodied experience. Compassion-, acceptance- and mindfulness-based practices offer an alternative lens through which dancers and other performing artists may explore care, sustainability, vulnerability, and resilience in creative processes. This conference invites scholars, artists, educators, and practitioners to reflect on compassion-, acceptance-, and mindfulness-based practices as embodied practices in dance and the performing arts, examining how they shape the daily lives of dancers and other performing artists across diverse cultural and professional contexts.
The conference will feature presentations by international experts on the following topics:

- Amber Mosewich (University of Alberta, Canada)
- Courtney Walton (University of Melbourne, Australia)
The conference will be broadcast via Zoom. The link will be shared with all registered participants before the conference.
Important: Conference language will be English. A Czech summary of the presentation will be distributed on the day of the conference.
