Comparative Drama Conference 2021

The Comparative Drama Conference is an international, interdisciplinary conference founded by Dr. Karelisa Hartigan at the University of Florida in 1977. Every year, approximately 200 scholars are invited to present and discuss their work in the field of drama and 2-4 new plays receive a staged reading. The conference draws participants from both the Humanities and the Arts. The papers delivered range over the entire field of theatre research and production. Over the past 40 years, participants have come from 32 nations and all 50 states. Each year a distinguished theatre scholar or artist is invited to address the participants in the Keynote Event.

Hotel Information:

The conference hotel will be the DoubleTree by Hilton in Downtown Orlando.

The address is: 60 South Ivanhoe Boulevard, Orlando,Florida, 32804.

The rates are $149 a night (one king sized bed or two queen size beds).   The hotel is extending the rate before and after the conference to allow attendees to mix their conference participation with some theme park adventure.  (Rates are good October 10 through October 19, 2021.)  Reservations can be made via PassKey utilizing this link: https://book.passkey.com/e/50189549.

What are my transportation options for getting to and from the event?

Transportation from Orlando International Airport

There are numerous ways to get from the Orlando International Airport to the DoubleTree hotel.

Renting a car

You can rent a car (in case you come with family members who want to hit the parks while you attend the conference).  All the major rental car agencies are located at the airport.   (In case you want to rent a car for the day, there is an Enterprise Rental Car Agency just a few blocks from the hotel.)  The hotel has a parking deck (around 20 dollars a day) but also on street free parking.

Taxi

The average cost of a taxi ride is $55, depending on traffic.

Uber/Lyft

As always prices vary, depending on if surge pricing is in play.
