The Garden Theatre will bring the Stephen Sondheim classic, Company, to MATCH in celebration of their fifth season. Starring The Garden Theatre Founding Artistic Director Logan Vaden, the production will run April 10-19, 2026 at Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (3400 Main St.) in the heart of midtown and features a cast and creative team full of returning Garden Theatre favorites. This production marks the theatre’s fifth anniversary. Join us on April 11 at the 8pm performance to celebrate the theatre's milestone anniversary with a champagne toast and cake.On the night of his 35th birthday, Robert finds himself unable to decide on a wish as he blows out his candles. A confirmed bachelor surrounded by “those good and crazy people”—his married friends—Robert is torn between accepting his life as it is and wondering if something (or someone) is missing. Through a series of dinner parties, first dates, and candid conversations, Bobby explores the highs, lows, and absurdities of modern relationships, gaining insight into marriage, commitment, and his own persistent bachelorhood. Stephen Sondheim’s groundbreaking musical is a mature, intelligent, and wildly funny look at love, vulnerability, and what it truly means to be alive.
The cast of Company are all local professionals who have worked on The Garden stage over the past four seasons, with Logan Vaden as Robert, Angela Pinina as Joanne, David Allen III as Larry, Whitney Zangarine as Sarah, Seth Daniel Cunningham as Harry, Daniel Edwards as Amy, Stephen D’Amico as Paul, Whitney Wyatt as Jenny, Baker Morrison as David, Morgan Kaupert as Susan, Miles Estes as Peter, Ivanna Martinez as Marta, Katie Chaisson as April, and Jackie Cortina as Kathy. Emily Buesing, Crayten Clendion, and Jay Gracia round out the cast as understudies. The production team consists of Courtney Chilton as co-director and choreographer, Sara Denton as co-director and stage manager, Jake Cummings as music director, Lauren Hainley as producing assistant director, Nicholas White as set designer, Blake Minor as light designer, Kimberly Hart as costume designer, Jarred Popoff as sound designer, Brandon McCormick as intimacy director, and Jay Gracia as fight choreographer.
Company originally opened on Broadway in 1970, earning a record-setting 14 Tony nominations, and winning six. The piece is considered the first concept musical, lacking a linear plot. It was also one of the first book musicals to deal with modern dating, marriage, and divorce. Company has received many high-profile revivals over the years including a 2006 Broadway revival starring Raul Esparza and directed by John Doyle, which featured the actors as the orchestra and went on to win the Tony Award for Best Revival; and a 2011 New York Philharmonic concert starring Neil Patrick Harris, Patti LuPone, Stephen Colbert, Martha Plimpton, and Anika Noni Rose. The show was most recently revived on Broadway in 2021 with a genderbent cast, starring Katrina Lenk as Bobbie, with Patti LuPone, Matt Doyle, and Jennifer Simard. The 2021 revival received nine Tony nominations and won five, including Best Revival and Best Featured Actor and Featured Actress for Doyle and LuPone, respectively.
Company will run for ten performances only from April 10-April 19, 2026 at MATCH (Midtown Arts and Theatre Center Houston; 3400 Main St. Houston, TX 77002). Adult tickets are $30. Student and senior tickets are $25. The Garden Theatre will also host a complimentary reception following the 8pm performance on April 11 celebrating the theatre’s anniversary.
