By joining our community tour, we invite prospective parents and students to explore our career internship (Grade 13) at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa. Our program coordinator will explain our innovative full-year internship and career readiness program. Campus tours accommodate a maximum of 3 guests. We understand parents need a program that helps their neurodivergent/autistic child transition into a career and adulthood after Grade 12.

This full one-year transition-to-work program, in partnership with Project SEARCH, prepares students with disabilities for employment. The immersive workplace training program combines classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on learning through worksite rotations at Banner.
Science Prep Academy provides students with real-life work experience and employability training. Students also learn about independent living skills needed to transition to adulthood successfully.
The goal is for students to find and maintain competitive employment. Some will secure employment with Banner after this internship.
The internship is designed to provide students with a variety of worksite experiences. During the school year, students rotate through three non-paid internship sites to learn work skills needed for the world of work.
Student Eligibility Requirements (To qualify)
• Students must be between 18 and 22 years of age.
• Students must apply by submitting an application.
• Students must apply and be eligible for the Division of
Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
• Students must be able to be independent on the job
site, once they understand work expectations, and have
received coaching to get them independent with
co-worker support.
