Pittsburgh’s art and culture scene doesn’t stop when you step outside of the Cultural District. There are over 30 community theaters sprawled across the Western Pennsylvania region providing access to the arts right in our backyards. These companies are made up of talented Pittsburghers who come together to enrich our region, bringing vitality directly to the communities they perform in.Join 16 of these companies May 18-20 at the O’Reilly Theater from 5-7 p.m. to celebrate local talent at the Community Theater Showcase.
The participating companies are spread throughout the region, including Allegheny, Beaver, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. This showcase is part of Pittsburgh Public Theater’s free Dollar Bank Lobby Series and is in the spirit of their new “Go See a Show” campaign.
The Community Theater Showcase is part cabaret style performance and part community-building opportunity. Performers will present pieces that showcase what these companies do best. You are invited to sit and watch the performance or take a stroll throughout the lobby where you have the opportunity to meet people from each company at dedicated tables to learn more about how you can support them or get involved.
This event is free and open to the public. All companies are participating for all 3 days, so you do not need to attend multiple nights - but feel free to spend as much time with us as you want! This will be a casual evening, so you are welcome to come and go at times that suit your schedule. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to mingle and get to know your neighbors (near or far)!
You won’t want to miss this opportunity to celebrate all of the incredible talent across our region and perhaps find a new community of your own! When our theaters thrive, our communities thrive.
