Community Sundays: Kids Coding School

Through guided, age-appropriate projects, kids will explore how simple circuits, mechanics and coding principles bring everyday objects to life.

Each week, participants will build and test their own interactive creation- encouraging experimentation, confidence and a deeper understanding of how things work.

Schedule:

• June 7 – Motorized Mini Vacuum: Build a working mini vacuum using a 3V motor while learning the basics of circuits and airflow. A fun, hands-on way to explore how simple engineering can create real-world devices.

• June 14 - Hydraulic Excavator: Construct a working excavator powered by hydraulics and discover how fluid pressure creates movement. Test your design as you lift and move objects like a real machine.

• June 21 - Propeller-Powered Speedster: Design and race a motorized speedster driven by propeller propulsion. Explore motion and thrust while competing to build the fastest vehicle.

• June 28 – Ball Launcher: Build a motorized ball launcher powered by a 3V motor, like a mini pitching machine. Explore how speed, angles, and design affect how far your balls can go.

Program Details:

• Location: YZD Experience Centre, 34 Hanover Road
• Cost: Free
• Age: 5-14; minors must be accompanied by an adult.
• Class timeslots: 12:00 - 1:00PM, 1:00 - 2:00PM, 2:00 - 3:00PM, 3:00 - 4:00PM, and 4:00 - 5:00PM
• Experience level: No previous experience required

Please note:

• Spots will be held for 10 minutes before they are given to someone else. Be sure to arrive on-time.
• Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Parents accompanying a child who will not participate in programming need not register.
• Only one (1) parent permitted to accompany each child.
• All guests who intend to participate in programming need to register.
