About this Event
Community ASD Awareness & Safety Event
Hosted by Autism Center of Excellence
Join us as we celebrate the upcoming launch of our new clinic in Columbia, Maryland with a meaningful, family-centered event focused on safety, awareness, and connection for children with autism and their families.
This event is designed to help families better navigate real-world safety scenarios while giving children a positive, low-pressure opportunity to engage with first responders in a supportive and sensory-considerate environment.
✨ What to Expect:
- Meet and interact with local first responders
- Explore emergency vehicles
- Experience lights and sirens in a controlled, child-friendly setting
- Learn practical safety tips and resources for children with autism
- Build familiarity with uniforms, sounds, and environments that can often feel overwhelming
Our goal is simple: to replace fear with familiarity and build trust through experience.
We understand that emergency responders serve our community first and foremost. Participation from local departments may vary depending on active community needs, but we are grateful for any time and support they are able to provide.
