This event features NM state poet laureate Lauren Camp, prose writers Jamie Figueroa and Renata Golden and poet Natachee Momaday Gray
About the writers:
Lauren Camp serves as New Mexico Poet Laureate. She is the author of eight books of poetry, including "In Old Sky" (Grand Canyon Conservancy, 2024). In 2022, she was chosen as the fourth Astronomer-in-Residence at Grand Canyon National Park. Other honors include the Dorset Prize, finalist commendations for the Arab American Book Award and Adrienne Rich Award, and fellowships from the Academy of American Poets and Black Earth Institute. Her poems have been translated into Mandarin, Turkish, Spanish, French, and Arabic, and have appeared in New Ohio Review, Poem-a-Day and Kenyon Review.
Jamie Figueroa is the author of the critically acclaimed novel "BROTHER, SISTER, MOTHER, EXPLORER." Longlisted for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize and shortlisted for the Reading the West Book Award, Figueroa’s debut novel “brims with spellbinding prose, magical elements, and wounded, full-hearted characters that nearly jump off the page” (Publishers Weekly). Faculty in the MFA Creative Writing program at the Institute of American Indian Arts, Figueroa’s writing has appeared in American Short Fiction, Emergence Magazine, Elle, McSweeney’s, Agni, The New York Times, and The Boston Review among others. A VONA alum, she received a Truman Capote Award and was a Bread Loaf Rona Jaffe Scholar. Boricua (Afro- Taíno) by way of Ohio, Figueroa is a longtime resident of northern New Mexico.
Renata Golden’s new essay collection, "Mountain Time: A Field Guide to Astonishment," was published in March of this year. These essays explore the inner and outer natures of remarkable human and nonhuman beings who call the Chiricahua Mountains on the borderlands of Mexico, New Mexico, and Arizona home. Her essays and poems have appeared in multiple literary journals and anthologies and have been finalists for the River Teeth Literary Nonfiction Book Award, Penelope Niven Creative Nonfiction Award, Annie Dillard Award for Creative Nonfiction, and Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University Award. Originally from the South Side of Chicago, she lives in Santa Fe. To learn more, visit renatagolden.com.

Natachee Momaday Gray is a Santa Fe native and indigenous poet and performer whose work focuses on the melding of art and myth, ancestry and nostalgia, food and prayer, glamour, frivolity and time. Her debut poetry collection, "Silver Box," from Finishing Line Press, was met with celebration and recognition upon its release in 2023. A new mother, she lives on a small farm with her family in Coyote, NM.
