FREE TO ATTEND ~ RULES BELOW!
Come join us for a fun Plant Swap in Picayune, MS! Bring your extra plants, cuttings, or seeds to trade with fellow plant enthusiasts. It's a great way to expand your plant collection and meet other green thumbs in the community. This event will be held on May 4th from 9am to 12pm.
Local musician Jared Daws will be performing an acoustic set, and we have the following vendors joining us:
Pj’s Coffee
Without Measure Macrons
Taqueria La Familia
Kids can paint a rock for their gardens at home, or to add to the Community Rock Caterpillar (and can submit entries to name the Caterpillar)!
The event is hosted by Chelsea + Dennis Traina of Good Neighbor Real Estate at their empty lot located at 510 W Canal, Picayune, MS 39466 (right next to Flowers by Georgia). Special note: This event WILL NOT be held at the Good Neighbor office address of 710 W. Canal Street.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to swap and share your love for plants! Rules of the Swap below!
Most people at the event will either...
(A) Bring a folding table and wait for Swappers to come to them. (We ask that Swappers with tables arrive at 8:30 AM to set up their tables.)
(B) Bring a wagon or box for their plants and walk around to tables or just mingle with other Swappers.
A few ground rules...
1. There is no selling allowed at the event. This event for swaping or giving away, only. If you are seen selling anything, you'll be asked to stop or leave. :)
2. If you see a table that is not attended by the Swapper, wait for their return before touching anything on the table. Do not assume that a table without a person behind it means that the plants are for free. Always, always ask!
3. While this is a Plant Swap, you're welcome to bring planters, plant accessories, homemade items, jelly, honey, baked goods... you name it! If you think a plant enthusiast would love it, you're welcome to bring it and swap it. But remember -- no selling!
4. It's very common to forget the name of the plant that you swaped, so try to bring popsicle sticks and a marker for labeling. And bring zip locks for cuttings!
5. Have fun! We are so excited to host this event for out community, and to have local musician Jared Daws playing for us, as well as food + coffee vendors to be announced!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
?Can I bring children to the event?? YES! This is a family-friendly event.
?Is this event free?? YES! We were requiring registration, but this event gained a lot more attention than we originally planned for.
?“Can we buy plants at the Swap?”? So, at the core of a traditional swap there is no money exchanged. Gardeners for the many many generations before us couldn’t hop over to a garden center to buy plants. They had to rely on friends, neighbors, and family to share the plants, clippings, and seeds from their gardens. In the spirit of keeping that tradition alive, there is no selling of plants at this Swap (and most likely any swap you go to).
?“What if I don’t have plants to trade but still want to participate?” ? I love this question because the answer points right back to the tradition. If you don’t have plants yourself, please don't go to a garden center and buy some. Do you have a plant-crazy friend, grandma, or neighbor? First, invite them to go with you to the Swap (trust me, plants are probably their Love Language), then ask them if they have any plants that you can take clippings from, or see if they have extra pots/planters to trade.
You can get clippings now and place them in water to start growing roots, or you can collect fresh clippings the evening before the Swap, or even the morning of.
No planty friends? Thats alright. Do you bake? Crochet? Paint? You can literally bring anything that you think someone may want in exchange for a plant. At the last Swap I went to, a lady painted golf balls to look like lady bugs, to be used as little garden ornaments. I put them on a few plants at home and they’re so dang cute. Other things I traded for at the last swap I went to: honey, cookies, art, painted rocks, seeds, nursery pots, other trinkets that were fun and plant-themed!
So get creative or get baking and don’t let “I don’t have plants” stop you from attending!
