About this Event
Community Mural Design with A'Kailah
Free Event open to all youth in San Bernardino ages 11 and up.
This series of workshops invites all youth in San Bernardino to learn about some of the history of mural making and take part in the process of conceptualizing and designing a mural for their own community!
Learn the basics of design and paintings skills alongside this professional artist and instructor.
A'Kailah Byrd-Greene is a portrait and mural artist from San Bernardino, California. Her work focuses on bringing a colorful and vibrant outlook to the way Black women are represented in art. She explores the effects of social and personal experiences while manipulating non-traditional skin tones and characteristics to highlight varying emotions. A'Kailah received a BA in Studio Art from CSUSB in 2019 and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University in 2021.
The collective design will then be painted on a wall in the outdoor courtyard at the Youth Justice Center in San Bernardino. Come be part of this community-building and history making series of events.
