About this Event
Welcome to San Francisco Monthly Community Movie Nights!
April Movie: Her
With all the current AI hype, I wanted to have a community dialog about the intersection of AI and personal relationships, and what better movie to do that with than Her!
Her is a 2013 American science-fiction romantic comedy-drama film. The movie follows Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a man who develops a relationship with Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), an artificially intelligent operating system personified through a female voice. The film explores love, technology, and human connection themes in a futuristic Los Angeles setting.

Why Hosting Movie Nights
Movies are fantastic mediums for conveying ideas, thanks to the mix of visuals, music, and curated words. A movie is a limited-time experience in which we can all share the same version of reality and relate to it in our own unique ways.
Also, watching a movie with a community as a social activity is a dying art. We go to the cinemas surrounded by other people, and we never talk to them about what's happening on the big screen.
I facilitate those movie nights as a social experiment. In a decentralized, interactive way, at any point in the movie, you can raise your hand, share an insight or thought, and have the community reflect on you.
