Community Mental Health Walk

Mission: The mission of the Community Mental Health Walk 2024 is to promote mental well-being, raise awareness about mental health, and foster a supportive community environment where individuals feel empowered to seek help and support.

1. Raise awareness: Increase understanding and reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues in our community through education and open dialogue.

4. Resource access: Offer information about local mental health resources and support services to ensure that individuals have access to the help they need.

The Mental Health Walk 2024 will provide a rejuvenating and therapeutic experience by blending physical activity with the soothing influence of companionship. Participants will take part in a leisurely stroll, promoting mindfulness and the mind-body connection. The enjoyable setting will offer support and inspiration for individuals to use physical activity as a means to address their thoughts and worries effectively. Through its communal aspect, the event creates a nurturing environment that encourages open discussions on mental well-being and fosters connections among participants. Overall, this walk is a simple yet powerful way to prioritize mental wellness through movement. The main activity is a three-mile walk in downtown Portsmouth, featuring a pop-up community fair with vendors showcasing various support services in health, employment, education, gun violence prevention, nutrition, substance abuse, and housing assistance.
