ECHO West Texas is happy to announce the 3rd Community Impact meeting for 2024 and welcomes back author, public speaker, and expert on poverty and nonprofit management -Elia Hernandez-Moreno. Check out her Bio below!
October 30th | 8:45am - 3:30pm | Seating is limited and registration is $25 per person
Event will include:
• Light breakfast
• Lunch
• 90's Halloween Costume Contest (prizes for Best Costume and Most Original)
Topics of Discussion:
• Recognizing all forms of poverty
• Communication Theory (Walter Ong) - Unwanted labels to address concerns of client exploitation
• Importance of community engagement to drive policy and procedures that exist for the people we serve
• Authentic voices from the neighborhood
• ECHO updates - coordinated projects and new shared system
• The Co-Op Center tour
The last 30 minutes will include an optional tour of The Co-Op Center which has been under renovation. They will showcase their community shared spaces and available offices with nonprofit rates.
Elia Hernandez-Moreno DPAff (h.c.), is the author of Permission to Rest and Living Intentionally, a book that depicts her own personal journey and hard-earned insights on the importance of adding value to the lives of others in just 90 seconds. She currently serves as the Executive Director of No Need Among You Network powered by Texas Christian Community Development Network. In addition to her role as Executive Director, Elia serves as Founder of Neighborhood Impact HTX. Elia is also the National Program Director for Beegle Communication Across Barriers and holds the position of Speaker and Author for the No Excuses University Network of Schools, a growing network of 250 schools who promote college readiness for all students, especially those living in poverty. Elia serves on many boards and committees. She is bilingual, and a master at assisting organizations and individuals who seek to implement fresh ways to connect with those living in poverty.
ECHO is glad to bring experts to the table in our Community Impact Gatherings. This does come at a cost to us, so we are requesting a $25 registration fee per person to help offset the costs to ECHO so that we can continue to bring professional insights from people around the country.
