About this Event
Community Garden Education Classes on growing microgreens for beginners introduce participants to one of the easiest and fastest ways to cultivate fresh, nutrient-dense food. These classes focus on the basics of selecting seeds, preparing simple growing trays, and understanding the ideal conditions for germination, such as light, humidity, and temperature. Participants learn how to use common materials—like soil mixes or soilless mediums—and how to maintain consistent moisture without overwatering. Instructors guide students through the quick growth cycle of microgreens, which typically spans just one to two weeks, making it an ideal starting point for new gardeners. The program also explains how to harvest microgreens at the right stage for maximum flavor and nutrition, as well as tips for incorporating them into everyday meals. By the end of the class, beginners gain hands-on experience and confidence, along with the knowledge needed to grow microgreens at home or within their community garden plot, fostering both self-sufficiency and enthusiasm for continued gardening.
