Fire dancing and drum circle
Fire jams are a space for fire artists to connect with their community, practice their art and experience the feeling of dancing among flames in a safe setting. We incorporate live drumming to create a mesmerizing show that anyone from the community is welcome to enjoy. We encourage everyone to join in making music with Sabba Drummers.
For you to spin fire a couple things are needed.
- Have completed a reputable fire safety course and have proof of experience.
- Attend the pre-burn meeting. To ensure the safety of all participants, we require anyone who plans on spinning fire that evening, to attend there-burn safety meeting. This will happen immediately before the fire circle begins.
- Follow all community commitments.
Commit to Safety : By following safety protocols CONSISTENTLY you minimize the risk and/or injury to yourself and the people you share this art with. It is not IF but WHEN you get burned. It is fire after all.
Commit to Social Responsibility : Your choices affect the whole community. Make choices with this in mind. Pick up after yourself. Look out for others. Follow all safety protocols.
Commit to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion : To not acknowledge privilege and inequality is an act of violence that perpetuates systems of oppression. Commit to personal growth. Actively address “blind spots” individually, and as a community.
Commit to Kindness and Respect : In person and online we value emotional intelligence. Check in with you before speaking/typing. You will be held accountable for your intention as well as your impact.
Please bring your own prop or instrument to play with. If you don’t have your own yet, don’t let that hold you back from attending this jam. Simply ask a Sabba Circle troupe member and one of us will most likely let you borrow one of ours.
