About this Event
What if your next game-changing connection is just a drink away?
Join us for Community Drinks to wind down around a glass, make new connections, and get inspired by the spotlights of the evening. Hosted at The Hague Humanity Hub, this is the place for you to get away from your busy schedule and enjoy after-hours with purposeful conversations.
What can you expect?
Come to the Hub on Thrusday, April 16th, between 17:00 and 19:00, for a drink (or two) and meet professionals that think about the interconnectedness of ecosystems and global policies.
From coastal dunes and migratory birds to urban gardens and pollinators, biodiversity surrounds us—even in the heart of a global city like The Hague! As environmental pressures intensify worldwide, conversations about how we protect and preserve the natural world are becoming increasingly urgent, and they belong not only in laboratories and policy rooms but also in our communities.
The April edition of Community Drinks evening at the The Hague Humanity Hub invites members of the international peace, justice, and sustainability community to come together to reflect on the importance of biodiversity and the collective responsibility of preserving it. In a city that hosts institutions working on global governance and environmental protection, it is fitting to create a space where professionals, researchers, activists, and curious community members can meet informally to exchange ideas and experiences.
The theme of ''Biodiversity & Preservation'' encourages us to think about the interconnectedness of ecosystems, societies, and global policy. Biodiversity loss is not only an environmental challenge; it is deeply linked to human rights, food security, climate resilience, and social stability. Protecting ecosystems means protecting communities and futures.
Join The April edition of the Community Drinks for a fruitful conversation that may spark collaborations, inspire new perspectives, or simply deepen our collective awareness of the living systems that sustain us.
We would like to explore some of the following questions through the selected spotlights for the evening:
- What does biodiversity mean in an urban city like The Hague, and how can cities become spaces that actively support ecological diversity?
- How are local ecosystems, from the North Sea coastline to urban green spaces, changing, and what can communities do to help protect them?
- What role can residents, civil society organizations, and international institutions in The Hague play in preserving biodiversity at both local and global levels?
- How can urban planning, architecture, and public spaces contribute to healthier ecosystems and more biodiversity-friendly cities?
- How can international policy conversations taking place in The Hague connect more directly to local environmental action?
- And finally, how can we foster a stronger sense of connection between people, place, and the natural systems that sustain life in and around our city?
Through short spotlights and open discussion, the evening aims to create space for reflection, inspiration, and collaboration across disciplines and communities.
