Come be a part of The La Pawz Dog Team!
Join Pack Leaders Tommy Stark and Emily Haley and community members for a pack walk around beautiful Laguna Niguel Regional Park!
Pack walks are a great way to continue socialization in a structured form, provide vital exposure, meet new friends, and give your dog a tiring and stimulating activity.
Meet at La Paz Sports park directly behind Whole Foods/Sees Candy and we will walk into the park from there—meeting spot is past the very last sports field away from the main entrance that has a back entrance into the regional park—behind Whole Foods and Sees Candy. Come early to find parking!
Requirements to join:
Please have positive control over your dog. This means NO allowing your dog to run into other dogs’ space, whether they’re a part of the pack walk or not. If that is hard for your dog, keep them on a short leash when walking close to other dogs and then a longer leash is fine when on the breaks.
NO retractable leashes.
It is important to us to have well behaved dogs in our community, and part of that includes good social etiquette. Many dogs learn confidence and manners by just being around each other, and may feel insecure or penned in if dogs are directly in their face. We ask that you help everyone continuing to have good experiences by refraining from direct nose-to-nose greetings until after the walk. Ask other owners’ permission before directly approaching with your dog, and when walking or on the breaks, maintain a courteous distance.
If your dog needs more space, please let Pack Leaders know. We are here to walk, so keep your dog moving to maintain calmer behavior and do not allow your dog to directly approach others. For more anxious dogs, it can help to have them at the front of the pack. Socialization can be done at the end of the pack walk if you and other owners desire.
If you are concerned about how your dog will react around other dogs, please contact us before attending so we can give you extra tips on making your walk a fun and positive time!
You are also welcome to tie a colored ribbon to your dog’s leash which will designate that your dog needs more space.
No retractable leashes, please use well fitting collars/leashes/tools. No females in heat please.
If you bring children please have an extra adult to supervise the entire time.
Please move to the right for bicyclists and cars and maintain space for through traffic.
We usually walk around the lake but we have been alerted to construction on the last half from May--October, so we will be turning around after reaching the second bridge at the top of the hill at the last water break. This will ensure good shade for most of the walks as well. Plan for a good 1-1.5 hour long walk at a moderate pace. You can drop out at any time but we would love for you to walk the whole way with us!
Wear comfortable walking shoes—terrain will be slightly uneven in the beginning and then will be mostly pavement or flat dirt for the majority of the walk. If you have physical limitations you can contact us and meet us at an alternate entrance to avoid the uneven terrain.
Looking forward to another great pack walk!
