Join us for the inaugural event in the Community, Culture and Cuisine series — an evening that celebrates heritage, storytelling and culinary innovation.

This special gathering will feature tastings from CHO Wines, Oregon’s first known Korean American-owned winery; Hapa Pizza, a wood-fired pizzeria blending the flavors of Asian cuisines with traditional Naples-style pizzacraft; and Belle Délices Patisserie, creating French-style confections with an Asian twist. All three are proudly founded by OSU alumni and families.

Enjoy thoughtfully curated pairings of wine, fusion-style pizza and cookies and macarons as you hear from a panel with the founders who are transforming their industries while honoring their cultural identities. The conversation with Dave Cho, ’18, and Lois Cho, Aaron Truong, ’09, and Natalie Truong, and Esther Lee, will explore the intersections of food, identity, entrepreneurship and community.

Owned by Aaron Truong, ’09, and Natalie Truong, this eatery blends the flavors of an array of Asian cuisines with traditional Naples-style pizzacraft — think charred wood-fired crusts topped with ingredients like Beaverton-made kimchi, Thai Khao Soi curry and lemongrass-marinated pork. More than a meal, Hapa Pizza tells a story of heritage and culinary creativity.

About

Esther Lee is the artisan pastry chef and creative force behind Belle Délices Patisserie. The Portland-based boutique is celebrated for its elegant French-style confections with an Asian twist, expertly infusing rich, layered flavors like miso, ube, matcha and yuzu. What began in 2008 as a hobby has grown into a business rooted in craftsmanship, cultural storytelling and joy through dessert. In addition to being a creative entrepreneur, Lee is an Oregon State University parent, with a student studying engineering.
