About this Event

What is Housing Justice and how does it affect our communities? In this free roundtable community discussion, you’ll join a conversation with Greg Jarrell, author of Our Trespasses: White Churches and the Taking of American Neighborhoods, and Val Brown, Levine Museum’s Chief Education and Strategic Partnership Officer, to discuss the legacy of Housing Justice and its continued impact today. Join the Levine Museum of the New South by contributing to the conversation.

The conversation will focus on the three themes:

  • Resistance (movements against injustice)
  • Reproduction (continued policies and practices of urban renewal)
  •  Persistence (How communities can work together, slowly and persistently creating alternatives for thriving communities)

Community Conversations is designed for an audience of forward-facing problem solvers and individuals who want to create change in their community. It encourages round-table dialogue amongst attendees and guest panelists, prompted by conversation starters aligned with the evening's theme. This series explores themes of interest to local communities and creates space for intentional conversations that enlighten and spark change.

This event is FREE however, we do encourage you to register.
Parking is free and available onsite.
