Join The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures on Friday, October 4, for a thoughtful discussion on Black mother/daughter relationships in literature and material culture. Led by Dr. Deja Beamon, Assistant Professor of Black Studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, this community conversation will explore contemporary writing on these familial relationships with special attention to the work of New York Times best-selling author Brit Bennett. Attendees will also consider how mother/daughter relationships appear in the Museum’s exhibition “Portraits of Childhood: Black Dolls from the Collection of Deborah Neff.”
Admission (and parking) is FREE, no registration required.
Community Conversations are opportunities to discuss topics connected to the exhibition “Portraits of Childhood: Black Dolls from the Collection of Deborah Neff.” Each one is led by a different community member.
