A community consultation with Spit it Out Collective to create LGBTQ+ Rights resources by and for the community
About this Event

You are invited to a community consultation event to explore what we collectively know and what we still need to know about LGBTQ+ rights. In collaboration with Spit it Our Collective and their Aye Right Project, we welcome any LGBTQ+ person aged 16+ to join us in helping to create an accessible booklet about LGBTQ+ rights.

With a transformative justice focus, let’s celebrate our capacity to share knowledge, build resilience through connection and learn about useful information most relevant for our community now.

At this event there will also be food and warm refreshments to enjoy, with time for social connection and informal chats.

Spit it Out will anonymously use information and contributions gathered at this event to help create a ‘Know Your Rights’ booklet, that will be published and available to the community.

What is Spit It Out?

Spit it Out is an award-winning organisation (SCIO) dedicated to opening conversations around consent, mental health and healing through creativity, accountability and community care. We realise the overarching goals of our project through collaborating with our community in delivering free activities and resources to learn together. We work to create a lasting change in our community through an intersectional Transformative Justice lens.

What is the Aye Right project?

As part of the Aye Right project, Spit It Out is writing an accessible free booklet to aid those who are LGBTQ+ about their rights. The consultation will be undertaken by Eva Lopez-Lopez, a Sociology graduate and lead of Aye Right, under the supervision of the team of Spit It Out and the Board. The aim of this consultation is to investigate in which ways and areas people needed more information and guidance around their rights. What information are you seeking that you cannot find anywhere or was inaccessible? We also want to provide a focus in this booklet, on trans and nonbinary rights so people know where and how to seek help.

If you have any concerns regarding the conduct of the consultation project you can contact the team at [email protected], the board [email protected] or Eva Lopez-Lopez at [email protected]

You are encouraged to ask us if there is anything that is not clear or if you would like more information.
