We invite you to a special screening of ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI... alongside our collaborators, Malcolm X Memorial Foundation. This incredible film will begin with an introduction from the Executive Director of the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation, JoAnna LeFlore-Ejike.
About the film
Set on a fictional night in 1964, the film follows Cassius Clay to Miami’s Hampton House Motel as he celebrates the boxing match that won him the title Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World. There he meets three friends: Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown, and discussion turns to the civil rights movement and the cultural upheaval of the 60s.
Bio of JoAnna LeFlore-Ejike
JoAnna LeFlore-Ejike is a dedicated cultural activist raised in the Midwest. She prides herself in activating her community through the cultivation of creative entrepreneurs and arts-based programming. Inspired by her professional background as a writer, event planner, and community organizer, JoAnna prioritizes cultural awareness and wellness through the organizing of special events and personal development training. For over a decade she has done this through her efforts in community development and public relations with several local non-profits in the Midwest. She continues this mission in her position as the Executive Director for the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation, after having volunteered there for 10 years prior.
Her education includes a Master's degree in Managerial Communication from Bellevue University and a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Public Relations; Black Studies minor from the University of Nebraska - Omaha.
JoAnna believes in the power of understanding the dynamics of multicultural communications and empowering those who are hungry for building a better platform for their organization and living in their purpose.
JoAnna gratefully shares her story as a "Descendent of the Black Liberation Movement and a Daughter of North Omaha " where she currently resides with her family.
