Fighting back to take the island back Community cleanup
Hey community!
You ready Okaloosa?
Its extremely hard not to notice all the trash that is scattered all the way across the island, am I right?
To me and like-minded individuals it's devastating and heartbreaking to see our beautiful area being taken advantage of, disrespected and trashed.
That heartbreak isn't just for the eyesore but that break is also a reflection of the pain and suffering our animals and marine life will endure until somebody or someone's have the passion, inspiration,motivation and PRIDE to Step Up and fight back.
Erase The Trace Okaloosa is calling on the community to come out to Beasley Park on Okaloosa Island at 7:30 a.m. Sunday the 13th and help fight back to take the island back.
Check-in will be at 7:30 and we will move to our cleaning locations at 8. My goal is to have the island split into three sections, everyone parks at Beasley. Depending on the turnout will depend on how many individuals are in a group for each section. There will be a lead or a couple lead volunteers who will be the only ones allowed in the center median. all other volunteers will be asked to remain on the side of the road. We are trying to take out from Beasley Park to the Destin Bridge. Hopefully we will get volunteers who can transport other volunteers to the clean up sections if not we will revamp and restrategize but it will still happen.
Trash along our roadways is not the image we want to reflect not only as a society but as a tourist destination. We don't want vacationers coming to our beautiful area and leaving with a not so beautiful memory. Not to mention if we don't take care of where we live, what are we truly leaving behind to our children when we're gone.
Let's lead by example and change the Tide!
Let's take pride in keeping our area beautiful.

We are an area of many individuals but a community of ONE!

Lead volunteers needed. If you would like to be more involved in this upcoming clean up please reach out to us. We are in need of people with vehicles that can transport individuals to clean up locations along the island and pick them back up and bring them back to the vehicles at Beasley Park.
Will also need someone available to pick people up when called upon in case they get tired or need to call it quits
Individuals volunteering that have trucks and willing to pick up the bags that are filled and placed along the road are also needed.
