PUBLIC INVITED TO CELEBRATE AMERICA'S 250TH, MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTHHall County Government and the Board of Commissioners will host a free, family-friendly event on Friday, May 29, from 6-9 p.m. at the Hall County Government Center to celebrate America’s 250th birthday and Mental Health Awareness Month.
“This is a first-of-its-kind for Hall County Government,” Board of Commissioners’ Chairman David Gibbs said. “We’re bringing the community together to celebrate 250 years of American independence while also highlighting the importance of mental health and well-being as a critical part of a strong community. It’s an opportunity to connect, have fun, and support one another as a community.”
The evening will feature live music from the local band GoodFolk, a variety of food trucks, and activities for all ages, including a free petting zoo and face painting.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to connect with on-site vendors, including several Hall County departments and local organizations that provide mental health resources and services.
“We want to take this opportunity to come together as a community, and to spend an evening without the day-to-day worries we face as individuals,” Public Information Officer Joy Licciardi said. “So, bring your families, pack your lawn chairs and spend a fun-filled evening with us at the government center.”
The event is free to attend and will take place at the Hall County Government Center, located at 2875 Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.
Hall County Government has also partnered with United Way of Hall County on a giving campaign, which aims to support the overall well-being of the community, including mental health. Donations will be used to help ensure Hall County families and individuals have access to resources, connections and support during difficult times. Donations can be made online at https://form.typeform.com/to/Rdba8e35 or in person throughout the month of May.
In-person donations may be dropped off at the following locations:
• All five Hall County library branches
• All three community centers
• The Hall County Government Center and Temporary Annex
• The Hall County Courthouse
