Community Canopy Launch

Join us on Friday, July 5th to kick off summer and our Community Canopy program with tree games, face painting, refreshments and more! The City of Kitchener will be planting over 20 new trees at the Chandler Mowat Community Center, creating shade for residents who enjoy the community gardens, splash pad, and playground there. We encourage residents to stop by and learn more about the project and how they can get involved to increase the tree canopy in this neighbourhood!

Community Canopy is a partnership between Reep Green Solutions and the City of Kitchener that aims to increase tree canopy in equity-deserving areas within the city. We have highlighted the Chandler Mowat neighbourhood for our 2024 pilot project. The tree canopy in this area is much lower than the Kitchener average of 27%.
