**Hip Circle is proud to offer all classes and workshops on a Pay What You Can (PWYC) basis as part of our commitment to removing barriers for women and girls. The standard cost for this class is $18 with a PWYC range from $10 - $25. Please pay as much as you can within the range provided - Pay it forward by choosing a higher amount when you’re able, rely on the support of others by choosing a lower amount when needed, and pay the standard rate when appropriate. We honor, welcome, and trust ALL women and look forward to seeing you in the circle.**
Experience healing in community through group acupuncture as modeled by the Lincoln Hospital Detox Program developed by Dr. Mutulu Shakur, the Black Panthers and Young Lords in the South Bronx in the 1970s. During the session, Amy will share some history about the Lincoln Hospital Detox Program from its birth through the joint efforts of the Black Panthers and Young Lords, COINTELPRO's efforts to shut down the program, the impact of a Black Panther delegation to Maoist China, the role that Tupac's step dad played, and the murder of President Taft's descendent.
How: You will be treated in a group, sitting up in chairs, fully clothed. Amy will place up to five small, sterilized disposable needles into specific sites on each ear. If you don’t want to have acupuncture, you can still benefit from the treatment by sitting with the group or Amy can place magnets or ear seeds on points.
Benefits of a treatment include: Increased calmness, Relief from stress and emotional trauma, Better sleep, and a discovery of inner quiet and strength
Pricing: The fees for the class will be used to support Hip Circle's mission to make health and wellness accessible to all women; any profit beyond the cost of utilizing the space will support Hip Circle's PWYC class offerings.
