About this Event

This 2 hour interactive workshop designed and faciltated by Cindu Thomas-George, Founder of Shakti Diversity and Equity Training and Co-Founder of the Chicago Women's Leadership Accelerator works to develop and strengthen intercultural intelligence (CQ), a key characteristic of inclusive leadership. This professional development experience will equip participants with fundamental knowledge and practical skills that will encourage culturally responsive and inclusive leadership. Through this learning experience, participants will think critically about how they can be agents of change who help lead a welcoming and inclusive experience for today’s increasingly diverse workforce.

Attendees will receive post workshop educational resources to encourage continued learning and have access to a one hour post workshop debrief via Zoom led by Cindu.

This professional development opportunity is open to All CWLA Alumni and any women identfying people leader or those aspiring to be leaders.

About Cindu:

Cindu Thomas- George is a cultivator of inclusion and a disrupter of injustice. As the founder and principal trainer of Shakti Diversity and Equity Training, she has designed and led professional development experiences that promote inclusion, equity, and intercultural intelligence for the past 20 years. Cindu is also an award winning tenured professor of Communication Studies at the College of Lake County specializing in Intercultural Communication and Public Speaking and is currently partnering with Northwestern University’s Kellogg School for Nonprofit Management, teaching and coaching on the topic of inclusive leadership. Cindu is also a recognized public speaker and is a member of the Comadres Speakers Collaborative. Her passion and commitment for cultivating inclusion extends beyond her career. Cindu is a co-founder of the Chicago Women’s Leadership Accelerator, a leadership development conference dedicated to increasing representation of women in leadership roles. and the founder of the South Asian Solidarity Movement.



The CWLA is committed to offering an inclusive, equitable, and accessible learning experioences . Because it has been well documented that women of color face the biggest barriers entering leadership ranks and also lack the professional development that is required to advance into leadership, the CWLA offers a limited amount of reduced fee tickets and some full scholarships for Black, Indigenous, Women of Color (BIWOC) attendees who do not have access to organizational support or who do not have the ability to pay the general admission fee for our professional development offerings.
