Keynote lecture details
In a talk that will appeal to specialists and non-specialists alike, Professor Kirsten MacLeod, Reader in Modernist Print Culture at Newcastle University, will speak about Corelli’s early-twentieth-century American magazine publications. The Stratford Society’s Nick Birch will subsequently host a roundtable discussion on Corelli, with Professor MacLeod, Dr Eleanor Dobson and Joanna Turner (Corelli researcher at Loughborough University).
Eleanor Dobson is Associate Professor in Nineteenth-Century Literature at the University of Birmingham.
Joanna Turner is a doctoral researcher at Loughborough University, writing her thesis on Corelli. Her research has uncovered Corelli’s hidden pseudonymous periodical publication history, as well as finally solving the mysteries of Corelli’s birth and early life - uncovering her working-class origins, convent education, time spent in the US, and stage career.
Nick Leigh Birch developed and administers the website dedicated to Marie Corelli at www.mariecorelli.org.uk, and gives talks locally on the author and her life.
