Coming Out/ Into Ourselves 2.0

Gabbing with Gays, in collaboration with The Seeing Place, is excited to present Coming Out/ Into Our Selves 2.0 event at the Astoria Broadway/Steinway branch of Queens Public Library! Join us for an afternoon of sharing and connection as we elevate and celebrate LGBTQIA+ voices from around the world.

We will meet at the library and go on a guided soundwalk to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. The soundwalk will feature Coming Out stories from an intergenerational group of LGBTQIA+ voices. St. Andrew's Episcopal Church was the site of Queens/SAGE, a facility which was a social services and support group for LGBTQIA+ senior citizens which met in the basement of this church from October 1995 until at least December 1999. Audience members will have the option of staying at the library and listening to the stories on laptops.

After the soundwalk, we will have a facilitated discussion where we will reflect on the stories in the soundwalk and provide space for the public to share their stories before closing with a mindful meditation.
