Comic Fest - Elena: A Handmade Life with Miriam Gold
About this Event
The book tells the story of Miriam's grandmother, Dr Elena Zadik, who fled Europe as a teenager and went on to build a life in Sheffield. Through artwork, family stories and historical research, Miriam brings Elena's remarkable journey to life as a doctor during the Second World War, overcoming challenges with courage, determination and humour.
Miriam will discuss the lives behind the book, and the process of turning family history into a unique graphic novel. There will also be a chance to ask questions.
If you enjoy comics, history, memoir and local stories, this is a great chance to hear from one of the UK's most exciting graphic memoir creators.
Suitable for ages 17+
Juno Books will be selling copies of Miriam's book for signing at the event.
