About The Heavy Anchor:
Josh & Jodie Timbrook opened The Heavy Anchor in April, 2011, as a couple of kids in their 20's.
They met while working at a recording studio. Josh went to school for Audio Production. Jodie went to school for Music Business. Josh had just gotten home from touring with bands and was debating going to grad school. Jodie was still working at the recording studio, but her hours got cut to part-time & she thought she was going to get laid off entirely. Why go back to school? Why look for another job we didn't like? What sounds more fun than opening your own bar & venue? After looking at several buildings in South City, they knew immediately after touring this spot, that it was 'the one'. Six months later, they opened our doors. A few years after, they decided to get married. Sometimes it just works out.
The Heavy Anchor loves hosting different events & offering a platform for local artists. They strive to be a pillar in the community & welcoming environment for the little punk/emo/indie kid in all of us. Stop by for a drink or stay for a show, we'll see ya there!
