Come on Over: Venue Staff Capacity Building Session- Accessibility Training
About this Event
Join us for a practical and engaging day of accessibility training delivered by Jonathan Mitchell of the University of Atypical.
This session will explore how arts and cultural venues can create more inclusive, welcoming and accessible experiences for audiences, artists and participants. Through discussion, practical guidance and shared learning, attendees will gain valuable insights into accessibility best practices within their venues and digital presence, and the importance of removing barriers to participation.
All attendees will receive a certificate of completion, recognising their commitment to improving accessibility within their venue.
This session will also provide a pathway to further training through the University of Atypical Arts and Culture Access Awards scheme. Participating venues will have the opportunity to continue thier training, as well as the option to receive an accessibility audit of their premises, helping them identify areas for improvement and implement meaningful changes. Venues that successfully complete the programme and/or the audit will be eligible to receive an Arts and Culture Access Award in recognition of their commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Jonathan will provide additional information on this opportunity at the session.
Together, we can help ensure Belfast’s arts and cultural spaces are open, welcoming and accessible to everyone.
We look forward to welcoming you all on 23rd June at The Banana Block!
