Come Hell Or High Water Elections: In the Wake of Natural Disasters - Tampa
About this Event
Come Hell or High Water: In the Wake of Natural Disasters — Tampa
What Happens When Disaster Collides With Election Day?
A hurricane is approaching. Evacuations begin. Power goes out. Roads flood. Communications fail. Buildings close. Families leave town.
Now imagine all of that happening just days—or even hours—before Election Day.
What happens next?
What happens if a polling location is damaged, inaccessible, or needed for emergency operations?
What if election workers have evacuated?
How are voters informed when power, internet and cell service are disrupted?
And how do government leaders, election officials, emergency management, the military, first responders and community organizations work together when there simply isn't time to wait for life to return to normal?
That's the conversation we're bringing to Tampa.
Join Vet The Vote for Come Hell or High Water: In the Wake of Natural Disasters — Tampa, a FREE community event bringing together leaders and perspectives from across Florida and Tampa Bay for a candid, behind-the-scenes conversation about preparedness, continuity, resilience and public service when disaster and Election Day collide.
Florida Has Lived This.
Hurricanes Helene and Milton showed Tampa Bay how quickly normal life can change.
Who Should Attend?
Everyone. You don’t have to work in elections or government to be part of this conversation.
Veterans and military families, active duty, National Guard and Reserve members, first responders, poll workers, emergency-management professionals, students, community organizations, civic leaders, volunteers—and Tampa Bay residents who simply want to understand how their community prepares when disaster strikes—are encouraged to attend.
