Join us for VC Tang's book launch of Come Eat, Grandma! Recipes and Stories of Thai Home Cooking. There will be an author talk, Q&A, and reception sponsored by Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine followed by book signing. We are only accepting online ticket sales and no tickets will be sold at the door.

Come Eat, Grandma! is a collection of flashbacks, lessons, and recipes along a personal journey of growth in the kitchen. The menu ranges from popular Thai favorites to lesser-known home comfort food to the meeting of Thai and Chinese flavors that represent the Teochow migrants in VC’s family line.

This book is for those who want to enjoy the vibrance that is Thai home cuisine – and furthermore, for those who want to fully embrace in the toiling and savoring of preparing our food. <3

**Author's real talk: Upon the wave of anti-Asian assaults, after dabbling in work where I couldn’t see myself long-term and thus quitting my jobs (plural), I slammed on the breaks. Once that happened, this book poured out of me after swirling in my head for years. I wrote the bulk of it in six weeks, like a woman possessed, fingers moving across the keyboard, not knowing who was driving.

This cookbook memoir is a labor of love, and it is self-published by my personal savings. I sought out an illustrator and designer through community referrals because that felt “homegrown” – the same way a cook handpicks ingredients from the farmer’s market.

With the forced pause of the pandemic, I realized life is so short and precious, and what mattered more and what I’d rather be pouring my heart into was protecting and sharing stories that build connection and community for our future generations to remember and carry forward.
