Join Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, in partnership with Woodward Community Media, on Thursday, June 27 for Combat Hunger, a day-long food and funds drive benefiting military veterans in the Fox Valley, Green Bay and Oshkosh.The event will take place at Pick n’ Save (2700 N. Ballard Road) in Appleton from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Community members are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food and cash donations throughout the day during this event, as well as purchase gift cards directly through Pick ‘n Save. Gift card donations will be split between Veterans Village of Appleton, Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Housing Serving Veterans, and Winnebago County Veterans Service Office. All food donations will be distributed to one of the local organizations after the event. Non-perishable food donations can be made outside the front entrance of the Appleton Pick ‘n Save on Ballard Road in a marked bin that benefits the military branch of their choice (Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy).
Woodward Community Media stations 105.7 WAPL, 1150 WHBY, 95.3 The Score, 95.9 KISS FM, 104.3 The Fuse and Razor 94.7|104.7 will be broadcasting live throughout the day so come out, have a great time, and support our veterans!
This event is open to the public and media – donors who stop by the event can also take photos with a Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) brought on-site by Oshkosh Defense, as well as meet several radio personalities from Woodward Community Media’s AM and FM radio stations. In 2023, the drive raised 52,580 meals for veterans and their families. Combat Hunger is supported by Woodward Community Media, Pick ‘n Save, TDS, and Jack’s Maintenance Service.
