Class Description

Colors of Impression is a painting class that explores different approaches to understanding abstraction through the use of color and painting tools such as brushes, knives, and fingertips. In this class, students will learn various techniques for creating marks and developing a personalized color palette for their paintings. The emphasis is on expressing emotions and ideas through textures and colors, rather than focusing on specific forms or compositions. No prior skills or knowledge are required. Each student will be encouraged to embrace the artistic process, experiment with unique colors and techniques, and create paintings that reflect their emotions and ideas.

Class Goals

In this class, students will gain basic knowledge and skills in creating a painting, including:

• How to create your own color palettes for painting
• Familiarizing yourself with acrylic paints
• Learning to use various painting tools to achieve different effects

Student Preparation

During the class, the instructor will work with each student to help visualize their ideas.However, due to the limited time available, students are encouraged to come prepared with a brief idea of what they would like to paint.

Materials Provided

• Acrylic paints
• Canvas
• Paint brushes/palette knives
• Acrylic mediums: modeling pastes, gel mediums, etc.
