About this Event
This workshop will explore portraiture through vibrant colors. Students will practice capturing the essence of a portrait through expressive application of color and brushwork.
Where:
This class will be indoors in our Dining Hall in the main Harwood Art Center Building. 1114 7th St NW 87102
Age / Skill Level:
Teens (15-19) and adults (20 and up). Suitable for beginners, practicing artists, and
educators.
Schedule:
Saturday March 28th: 10am-4pm
Sunday March 29th: 10am-4pm
*There will be a scheduled break in halfway through the session
Materials(What to Bring):
Supply List
16”x20” canvas
Acrylic brushes of various sizes and shapes (at least one 1” flat brush, 1/4” filbert or flat, and smaller pointed detail brush) I will bring brushes for students to use as well.
Acrylic paints in: (preferably liquitex)
Titanium white
Burnt sienna
Burnt umber
Cadmium red light
Cadmium red medium
Cobalt blue
French ultramarine blue
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Cadmium Yellow light
Pyrrole red
Raw sienna
Mars black
Optional additional colors:

About the Teaching Artist:
Kelsey Kilcrease is an artist who’s primary focus is painting, with work ranging from digital illustrations to large scale murals. Her work is a celebration of the rich diversity of the Southwest, with a particular emphasis on family and identity.
