An Afternoon of Live Indian Classical Music & Intuitive Coloring
Join us for an immersive afternoon where live Indian classical music provides the backdrop for an intuitive coloring experience. As our musicians perform, participants will be invited to explore creativity, reflection, and emotional connection through color.
Indian classical music is rooted in the idea that sound has the power to shape our inner experience. Rather than simply entertaining, it invites deep listening through expressive melodies, rhythms, and improvisation. Each musical composition evokes a unique emotional landscape, creating space to slow down, become present, and connect with your own emotions.
While the music unfolds live, participants will engage in intuitive coloring. Instead of working from a predetermined design, each person will receive a blank page and a simple creative prompt. There is no right or wrong way to respond. You may choose colors, shapes, patterns, or abstract forms that emerge naturally as you listen. This open-ended process encourages personal expression and offers a gentle way to explore how music resonates within you.
The program features live Carnatic vocal music, veena (a traditional South Indian string instrument), and mridangam (double-headed percussion). Through expressive improvisation and traditional compositions, the musicians create a contemplative soundscape that supports your creative process. The afternoon concludes with a guided nature-inspired meditation, offering a peaceful opportunity to turn inward and reflect on the experience.
No musical or artistic experience is necessary. Whether you're looking to relax, explore your creativity, or experience Indian classical music for the first time, this program offers a welcoming space to listen deeply, create freely, and connect with yourself and others.
