In this free hands-on youth workshop, participants will learn about the story-telling and cultural significance of beadwork and create their own beaded piece with intentional design rooted in color, pattern, and personal meaning. Beadwork carries generations of knowledge, identity, and storytelling across Indigenous cultures. Youth will explore how through color and repetition can express their own identities, strength, protection, growth, and belonging. After a short introduction and guided reflection, participants will design and create their own beaded piece to take home.
This workshop is offered in a spirit of respect and learning, honoring the diverse Indigenous traditions that continue today.
All materials provided. Space is intentionally limited to create a focused, supportive environment.
In partnership with Dubuque County Reads.
Ages 6–14 and families
