College Prep Workshop

Preparing for college applications can be a daunting process, but it doesn't have to be! This workshop is designed to guide rising high school seniors through every step of the application journey, from crafting a compelling college essay to navigating the complexities of financial aid forms. Led by experienced high school counselors Stacey Stanbury and Shannon Waggoner of Bloomin' Consulting, participants will gain invaluable insights, personalized feedback, and practical strategies to enhance their applications and boost their chances of getting into their dream schools. Join us to transform the sometimes overwhelming task of college applications into a manageable and successful endeavor.

During this workshop, students will:

• Create a working college list
• Create a resume
• Identify recommenders for letters of rec.
• Create a Common App account
• Create a college essay
• Search scholarships and learn about the financial aid process (introduce students to FAFSA, CSS Profile and Scholarship sites)

Lunch will be provided.

Taking a student-centered approach to college counseling, Bloomin' Consulting focuses on each student's unique needs and goals. Their counselors work one-on-one with students to help them identify their strengths and interests, and to develop a plan that will help them achieve their college dreams.

Stacey Stanbury
Stacey Stanbury, MS, LPC, NCC, has been a school counselor for 21 years, 17 as a high school counselor. In those years, she has helped students and families with every facet of the college admissions process. She has helped countless families achieve their college dreams. Stacey was selected as the Wyoming Admissions Officers' School Counselor of the Year in 2017 and her school/program was selected as a 2023 School of Excellence through the American College Application Campaign.
Shannon Waggoner
Shannon Waggoner, ME. MS is a first generation college student who believes everyone should have an opportunity to pursue their educational goals. She has been in education for 24 years, 15 of those as a school counselor. Shannon’s experience covers many facets of educations & students with a range of abilities and backgrounds, which enhances her work with students and families in the college planning process.

Credit card payments, both through Eventbrite and CWC, are subject to processing fees. Cash or check payments are also accepted.
