The Collection Store Tour is a guided behind-the-scenes experience that gives visitors unique access to a working performing arts collection store and conservation lab, usually closed to the public. Tours explore a selection of original objects spanning ballet, opera, circus, dance, music and theatre from some of Australia’s greatest performers, creatives and companies.
What to expect:
Hear the fascinating stories behind collected objects and learn more about the artists and designers who have helped shape Australian performing arts history.
See props, costumes and set models, masks, jewellery, puppets, artworks, personal artefacts, instruments, ballet shoes and more.
Get up close to one-of-a-kind items, including Nick Cave’s handwritten lyrics, Dame Edna’s spectacles, Kylie Minogue’s costumes, Margot Fonteyn’s pointe shoes, Peter Allen’s maracas, circus apparatus, intricately crafted opera headpieces and more.
