Think:Kids along invites educators, residential program staff, mental health clinicians, and anyone who is living with or helping kids with challenging behavior to learn more about Collaborative Problem Solving® (CPS), the revolutionary, evidence-based approach for helping children develop the skills they need to manage their behavior.

Tier 1 training covers all aspects of the CPS approach including assessment, planning, and intervention components. Training materials, breakout sessions, and opportunities for questions and answers will be a part of this highly interactive, web-based experience.

This online training also introduces you to a community of CPS-practitioners and a sounding board to troubleshoot issues and plan dynamic initiatives to address challenging behavior in the children we seek to support.

During this interactive training you will:

  • Understand why traditional approaches may not be well suited to the needs of children with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Learn the philosophy of the Collaborative Problem Solving® approach.
  • Identify the five cognitive skills that are frequently lacking in kids with challenging behaviors.
  • Recognize and list “problems to be solved” for a youth.
  • Explain and discuss the concept of “skill not will.”
  • Revise expectations for youth that are realistic and age-appropriate
  • Identify environmental accommodations to support skills training for youth
  • Compare the three primary interventions against the different goals of intervention
