Collaborative Carpentry Cooperative

This is an exciting program where a person can get carpentry, and landscaping training while doing real world projects for members of the Collaborative Carpentry Co-Op Community.

What is this about?

In a nutshell it is “On the Job Training ''. Trainees/apprentices get training while doing jobs for members. Members take turns being on the calendar with jobs, for example, the jobs can be house repairs, building furniture or permaculture projects like rain barrels or building a firepit. Members are both Trainee/apprentices as well as Job Hosts. The On the Job Training is designed to be more than simple knowledge, it is designed to be skilled. There will be certifications for each task.

Each class will be a different project, most will be about 5 hours. On occasions the project may be extended to Sunday or the following Saturday. We will contact you with the details as the calendar is updated. You can expect to learn how to work in concrete, carpentry, tiles, permaculture, landscaping and more.

As a member of the women’s carpentry Co-Op you can also have a project added to the calendar. Contact Deborah for further details.

Collaborative Meaning:

The adjective collaborative describes something accomplished by working together with others. With a collaborative effort, a big job can be completed in very little time.

When you collaborate, you cooperate, or join forces, with other people — working on a project, brainstorming ideas, even assigning responsibility for who will do what. So something that has these qualities is collaborative. From playing in a band to making a movie, feeding the students at a school to building a house, when you work toward a shared goal, it's collaborative.

Cooperative meaning :

Willing to cooperate; helpful. Acting in conjunction with others; cooperating. a (of an enterprise, farm, etc.) owned collectively and managed for joint economic benefit.
