COLETIVO SAIDEIRA: CHORO DO BRASIL

Coletivo Saideira is a Brussels-based collective of musicians who forged bonds through their shared love for Brazilian choro music. Their playfulness and musical connection resonate with the audience, making them feel like an integral part of the performance.
With this collective, they build upon the choro that emerged in the cultural melting pot of 19th-century Rio de Janeiro—a genre that reached great heights even then, while remaining a deeply social affair, as it still is today. The music quickly captivated the entire country, and choro collectives can now be found all over the world.
Coletivo Saideira honors traditional compositions and standards while also shining a spotlight on contemporary and original pieces. The name "saideira" refers to the very last song meant to close out a jam session (roda), usually playing long after you should have already been home.
Bandolim: Shalan Alhamwy
Cavaquinho: Matteo Carola
Clarinet: Rosa Iniesta
Pandeiro: Christel Descornet
7-string guitar: Bart Van Besien
