Learn acting skills and strategies for handling the dreaded audition "cold reading". Exploit those skills to get more out of rehearsals!About this Event
A “cold read” is the first step an actor takes towards winning a role in a play or film: reading from a script you’ve barely seen, with a scene partner you’ve never met, in front of strangers who hold your destiny in their hands. It’s a supreme test of your ability to bring a character to life on the spot; It requires a set of skills not taught in acting classes, and a bold mindset. In this 2-hour workshop, Steve Eldredge introduces those skills and that mindset - take the leap!
- Holding the script to maximize eye contact
- Responding authentically and dynamically
- Creating physical give-and-take in the space
- Finding detailed “dirt” in your character relationships
- Making fast, bold choices
- Strong cold reading skills boost your ability to remain alive, aware and responsive while holding your script in rehearsals!
